Toxiology
NUI have top competence within chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, toxiology and performs fundamental recearch activities aimed towards chemical work environment in relation to saturation diving. An important subject examined is how high partial and total pressure affect biological systems.
Further it is examined how different types of chemical pollution alters toxicity/biological activity during such circumtrances. How biological systems handles toxic influences is an important element in these kind of studies.
The recearch is partially based on experimental studies using isolated cells from mammals (incl. humans), and partially on humane studies in experimental diving. Together these activities contributes in reaching the main goal of a safer and more efficient work environment during saturation diving.
