How to detect decompression sickness in fish
Kåre Segadal has co-authored on collaborative study.

We at NUI ae very proud of our own who has co-authored on this collaborative study assessing diagnostic tools for gas bubble disease (GBD) in Atlantic salmon exposed to pressure-induced supersaturation. We tested both established and new methods, including semi-quantitative scoring and techniques from human diving medicine. Ultrasound-based gas bubble quantification proved the most reliable for identifying acute GBD and related mortality, while other methods lacked diagnostic value. With facilitation of fieldwork, including our diverse range of pressure chambers, fish health research has been carried out in ways likely never done before. This has opened for new ways of thinking and new potential projects. Thanks to our clients, our partners and our dedicated NUI team
