PumpSet – yet another fish health project in progress

We at NUI are a proud to announces that we will be R&D partner in the new FHF-funded project PumpSet, which aims to improve fish welfare during pumping and handling of juvenile fish. Together with NIVA, the University of Bergen and several industry partners, the project will map current practices and develop concrete recommendations for more gentle and safer handling.
Pumping and transfer of fish are critical operations in modern hatchery facilities. Through a combination of field studies, laboratory experiments and close collaboration with the industry, PumpSet aims to reduce stress, minimize injuries and improve fish health.
We will contribute both as a research partner and through its specialized expertise in pressure technology. With our wide range of state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers, we will facilitate key parts of the fieldwork.
